Lent, a season when we especially think about God’s love for us, begins on Valentine’s Day, with a 6 p.m. service. A variety of services, studies, and times of personal devotion can help make this a rich spiritual time. If you have ever wondered what Christians believe, and why, come join us. We’ll learn more about God’s love and who Jesus is together. Speaking of learning, it’s not too late to join the two study groups who are reading and discussing the book Faith-Sharing. Two groups meet on Wednesdays to study together: at 11 a.m. and at 6 p.m. The book costs $10. The groups are on Chapter 3, The Nature of Faith, on Feb. 7. We discuss what faith is–and is not. We consider ideas such as: “The object of Christian faith is not a philosophy of life about which we may speculate….the object of Christian faith is the living God revealed in one Jesus of Nazareth, whom we call the Christ.” And we check our ideas against what the Bible says.
One of the adult Sunday School classes has been studying a book called Rediscover Jesus. It reminds us that “our God is a God of second chances, fresh starts, and new beginnings.” Everyone needs second chances now and then. Each of us needs to get off the treadmill of life long enough to ponder life’s deepest questions: Who am I? Why am I here? What really matters in life? In our community?
Come learn with us from Jesus, the One who promises, “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)
Every Sunday classes meet at 10 AM to study the Bible. Worship services are at 11 AM. Everyone is welcome! We also have a number of support groups: GriefShare, Care Givers, and DivorceCare (coming in the spring). For more information about any church event, please check out the Calendar page.
