Due to a flare-up of Covid in Polk County schools, GRIEFSHARE will be suspended temporarily, Lonney McDonald announced on August 29. The support group sessions will resume as soon as it is deemed safer for all. Thank you for helping us protect each other.
GriefShare Group Offers Help After Losing a Loved One
This support group for persons working through the death of a loved one meets on Saturdays, 3 – 5 PM. To join the August 2021 GriefShare group at First UMC, Copperhill, please call the church office: 423-496-4931or send an email to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
GriefShare is a Bible-based, Christ-centered support group program for anyone who is suffering from the death of a loved one. It is open to everyone in the community. Each session includes a video seminar and group discussion. A workbook helps you with note-taking, journaling, and grief study. Although it’s nice for everyone to start at the same time, each session is “self-contained.” This means you can join the group after the 13-week sessions have begun.
Who Should Come to GriefShare?
This support group is for people grieving a person’s death. Of course there are other losses in life that cause a person to grieve. For example, you might have lost a job, recently been divorced, or lost custody of a child. Such types of grief are real but are not the kind discussed in GriefShare. Ask your pastor or a counselor to locate help for such circumstances.
Is GriefShare just for members of First United Methodist Church of Copperhill?
Absolutely not. Anyone can come! You do not have to belong to any church to come. Here’s JoAnne, to tell you how GriefShare has helped her recover from losing her husband:
