Surviving the Holidays Seminar: Oct.21

Surviving the Holidays seminar will be held on Saturday, October 21,  3:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

When you are grieving a loved one’s death, the holiday season can be especially painful. The Surviving the Holidays seminar helps participants discover how to deal with emotions, what to do about traditions, helpful tips for surviving social events and more.  The seminar is free but donations of $5 for participants’ books are always welcome. The books provide additional insights and ideas on holiday survival.  To register and to reserve your book, please call the church office at 423-496-4931 or e-mail griefsharecopperhill@ymail.com

What is GriefShare?

GriefShare is a Bible-based, Christ-centered support group program for anyone who is suffering from the death of a loved one.  It is open to everyone in the community.  Each session includes a video seminar and group discussion.  A workbook helps you with note-taking, journaling, and grief study.  Although it’s nice for everyone to start at the same time, each session is “self-contained.”  This means you can join the group after the 13-week sessions have begun.

Who Should Come to GriefShare?
This support group is for people grieving a person’s death.  Of course there are other losses in life that cause a person to grieve.  For example, you might have lost a job, recently been divorced, or lost custody of a child.  Such types of grief are real but are not the kind discussed in GriefShare.  Ask your pastor or a counselor to locate help for such circumstances.

Is GriefShare just for members of First United Methodist Church of Copperhill?
Absolutely not.  Anyone can come!    Here’s JoAnne, to tell you how GriefShare has helped her:
